Abandoned Vehicles

We regularly receive queries about vehicles that appear to have been abandoned, both on and off the public highway.

This is not a current NEPP responsibility, however your local City or District Council will be able to assist you, if the vehicle is deemed to be abandoned. 

There are a number of considerations that a Local Authority must consider before it decides whether a vehicle is considered abandoned or not and there are prescribed processes that must be followed.
